MIFC Individual Player Training

MIFC has partnered with the professional trainers at the International Academy of Soccer to offer optional training opportunities for players that may want more soccer than they will get with their team. Some of these training options are offered at no additional cost to MIFC players. There is a broad range of commitment, skill and ability. If you have any questions about whether the sessions are a good fit for you or your team, please contact us.

Fall TD Academy: Created by Sounders Academy and MIFC Technical Director Darren Sawatzky, Fall TD Academy is a fast-paced, fun filled training environment providing players with activities and games that are purposefully fun while simultaneously developing their fundamental skill base. Your child will learn the ways, and dribbling moves, of Messi, Renaldo, Dempsey, Morris and the like! To register for the academy go to our registration page or click here.

Technical Director's Winter Sharpness Sessions: Previously known as Friday Night Lights, this program is now for MIFC playersand parents! TD Winter Sharpness Sessions are led by MIFC's own Technical Director, Darren Sawatzky, and MIHS Head Coach Colin Rigby. Come with your friends and fine tune your soccer skills on Friday nights, under the lights, on the turf, at the Mercer Island High School Stadium. This winter program is a great way for players to continue to have a soccer ball at their feet in a fun-filled way.

Spring Academy/Get Ready for Select: Clinic-style training designed to enhance and improve individual technical skills. Includes three (3) training sessions per week for eight weeks during the spring, before select tryouts. This program is designed to provide soccer training and skill development beyond the Recreational program. It is open to highly motivated and committed players who qualified for Mercer Island U10 & older in last fall season. It runs from April to mid May and is led by professionals from the International Academy of Soccer. While it is not a "select" program, it is expected that each player will be serious and committed to developing his/her skills. Disruptive or non-interested players will be asked to sit out so as not to detract from the experience of the more dedicated participants. Players are expected to be on time and ready to start at each session wearing proper soccer attire, including shin guards, and bring their own ball. This program is designed as a drop in program for players to come to as many training sessions as they can as it fits into their spring schedule.
