Coach Information

Welcome to the MIFC coaching page. Here you will find all the information you need to volunteer and coach a MIFC team.

How to Volunteer
During player registration, there is a question on whether you would like to coach your son/daughter's team. If you are not a parent and would like to coach, please contact our office and we will supply you with the appropriate forms. The following is also required:

  • Background check (required by all coaches and assistants every year)
  • Select coaches must apply by filling out a Select Coach Form.

Experience Required
It is beneficial if applicants have prior soccer playing or coaching experience, but it is not required. What is important is a desire to work with kids, ability to create a positive environment, a commitment to learning the game and taking advantage of the coach development seminars and clinics we offer.

A Typical Season
MIFC is run by volunteers. We have, however, contracted professionals to help run practices during the week. You will be assigned two practice sessions per week (you may select times that best suit your schedule). There will also be one game a week where the coach is solely responsible for the team.

Rules of the Game
Rules of soccer vary depending on the age you are coaching. For example, there is no offsides on 5 v 5 soccer. You will receive a list of rules for your league in your welcome packet. Below are some general rules of the game.

Please view our forms page to see all the forms you, as a coach, need to fill out as well as your players.

Training Plans

Thank you to Microsoft for matching their employee's volunteer coaching time with a donation to MIFC! If you work at Microsoft and volunteer with MIFC, ask about the Microsoft Community Engagment Program.
