Recreational soccer is for older players who are ready for full-sided soccer. They play 11 v. 11 and adhere all of the Laws of the Game. As the players physically mature, the size of the ball and the length of the match will increase until they are playing with a full-size, #5, ball and playing 45 minute halves.
When is Registration?
Registration starts in April.
Rec soccer is for U12 through U18, typically 6th through 12th grade. Age calcuator.
Season & Time Commitment
The Rec soccer season is first weekend of September after Labor Day to mid-November. Rec will practice twice a week. Games are typically held on Saturdays on Mercer Island and the Eastside. However, U14 Boys and U15 Girls typically play Sundays due to field availability.
As part of their registration, Recreational soccer players receive a Mercer Island Soccer Club jersey upon registering.
Parents are responsible for the following additional equipemnt:
- Shin pads (all kids MUST have shin pads to play either practice or games)
- Black socks
- Black shorts
- Shoes. Cleats are preferable because they grip the wet grass and are good for lateral movement. Tennis shoes are fine however.
